I won't be posting the clipping or the results out of respect for any direct descendants who may come hunting. I will share privately, if asked.

The truth isn't always pleasant when we uncover it ... :(
NVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05833093597689579655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8247978133153248855.post-38481545058330048982012-09-05T00:28:05.652-05:002012-09-05T00:28:05.652-05:00Hello again, this is a follow-up to my post yester...Hello again, this is a follow-up to my post yesterday -- here is the reply I got back from the webpage today:

" Genealogical research inquiries regarding state and related federal governmental records should be directed to the Illinois State Archives. A cousin of mine 2X removed showed up at the same prison 10 years later. I just filed a records request through the prison webpage -- you can go to the Menard (sp) state prison webpage and click on "contact us", fill out the form and be sure to choose the "Records Request" category for your inquiry. What I think is a cousin of mine 2X removed appeared in the 1930 US Census report on Southern Illinois Penitentiary at Chester. Have no idea why. Anyway, if you go to the Menard (sp) prison webpage and click on "contact us", you will find a page with a little form to post an inquiry -- be sure to click the option "Records Search" and see what comes back. I just submitted mine. Great blog, by the way. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
